Overview

If you’ve never paddled an open boat, then now is the time to try. They are good fun, arguably drier than a kayak and you can take a much bigger picnic! If you’ve ever fancied poling or canoe sailing, Poole Harbour is the perfect venue.

How to get started

PHCC offers dedicated open boat trips on the first weekend of each month. During the warmer months there are also opportunities to join in with informal training sessions and more formalised British Canoeing Awards if you wish to progress your skills.  At Wimborne you can also borrow a canoe and paddle on the Stour, just sign up for a Saturday morning session.  If its white water that you are after, then look out for emails for trips to Devon and further afield.

Affiliations

The club is also affiliated to the Open Canoe Association, which provides opportunities to paddle in various parts of the country on flat water and on white water. They also organise a number of weekend residentials throughout the year in venues across the country and an annual summer festival. Look out for e mails or visit the website opencanoe.info for information on how to join.
